Probabilistic Constraint Logic Programming

چکیده
This paper addresses two central problems for probabilistic processing models: parameter estimation from incomplete data and efficient retrieval of most probable analyses. These questions have been answered satisfactorily only for probabilistic regular and context-free models. We address these problems for a more expressive probabilistic constraint logic programming model. We present a log-linear probability model for probabilistic constraint logic programming. On top of this model we define an algorithm to estimate the parameters and to select the properties of log-linear models from incomplete data. This algorithm is an extension of the improved iterative scaling algorithm of Della Pietra, Della Pietra, and Lafferty (1995). Our algorithm applies to loglinear models in general and is accompanied with suitable approximation methods when applied to large data spaces. Furthermore, we present an approach for searching for most probable analyses of the probabilistic constraint logic programming model. This method can be applied to the ambiguity resolution problem in natural language processing applications.

Multi-item inventory model with probabilistic demand function under permissible delay in payment and fuzzy-stochastic budget constraint: A signomial geometric programming method
This study proposes a new multi-item inventory model with hybrid cost parameters under a fuzzy-stochastic constraint and permissible delay in payment. The price and marketing expenditure dependent stochastic demand and the demand dependent the unit production cost are considered. Shortages are allowed and partially backordered. The main objective of this paper is to determine selling price, mar...
متن کاملInference for a New Probabilistic Constraint Logic
Probabilistic logics combine the expressive power of logic with the ability to reason with uncertainty. Several probabilistic logic languages have been proposed in the past, each of them with their own features. In this paper, we propose a new probabilistic constraint logic programming language, which combines constraint logic programming with probabilistic reasoning. The language supports mode...
متن کاملImplementing Probabilistic Abductive Logic Programming with Constraint Handling Rules
A class of Probabilistic Abductive Logic Programs (PALPs) is introduced and an implementation is developed in CHR for solving abductive problems, providing minimal explanations with their probabilities. Both all-explanations and most-probable-explanations versions are given. Compared with other probabilistic versions of abductive logic programming, the approach is characterized by higher genera...
متن کاملRandomised Algorithms and Constraint Logic
We propose a declarative-based implementation of randomised algorithms, which exploits the Constraint Logic Programming (CLP) paradigm. For the high-level formalisation of probabilistic programs expressing such algorithms we actually refer to a generalisation of CLP, namely the Probabilistic Concurrent Constraint Programming (PCCP) language, previously introduced in DW97]. This language provide...
متن کاملLoglinear models for first-order probabilistic reasoning
Recent work on loglinear models in probabilistic constraint logic programming is applied to firstorder probabilistic reasoning. Probabilities are defined directly on the proofs of atomic formulae, and by marginalisation on the atomic formulae themselves. We use Stochastic Logic Programs (SLPs) composed of labelled and unlabelled definite clauses to define the proof probabilities. We have a cons...
